MidYear Goal Review: How to Audit the First Half of Your Year and Fix What's Not Working

María Fernanda Estrada • Jul 02, 2026

It’s time to lock in.

We are officially halfway through 2026. You either used it or you didn't. The good news? 6 months remain. That´s a TON of runway.

Think back to January

Remember everything you wanted this year to become?

Some goals stuck, others didn't. That's why a mid-year goal review matters.

Only 9% of people complete every New Year's goal. The people who stay on track don't wait until December to adjust.

Here's how.

Celebrate First

Before you audit anything, write down every win from the last 6 months.
Didn't lose 15 pounds but started going to the gym? Win. Didn't read 12 books but finished one? Win.

The 15-Minute Goal Check-In

Grab your Big A## Calendar. First, the audit:

  • What did I say I'd do? Find January. Write every original goal on the month it was supposed to happen. See what made it to the wall and what never left your head.
  • What did happen? Goal: save $500/month. Actual: $200. Write the real number.
  • What's working and why? Find the mechanism and block it in. If Monday morning workouts are the only ones that stick, every Monday gets a block for the rest of the year.
  • What needs to go? Cross it out. Then pick one goal to own between now and December.

Now, make the second half count:

  • Pick 3 side quests, things you wouldn´t normally do. Mark them.
  • The thing you are most looking forward to. Give it a date.
  • Pick 2 new habits for the next 6 months. Stick to one in Q3. Check it off daily. Strick to the other one in Q4.
  • Make plans with that one person. Block the date before you hang up.
  • Find one challenge you need to accomplish before December. Write it in big letters.

Create more than you consume

You don't have to quit your phone. Just tip the ratio. 20 minutes a day of making something beats 3 hours of watching other people do it.

Don't let the blank page rule the second half of your year, just start.

Put Your Goals Where You Can See Them

A yearly goal tracker you walk past every morning does one thing: it asks whether you're doing what you said you'd do.

Pick 2 or 3 things that matter and show up every day. That's the real mid-year reset.

A lot can happen in 6 months.
